Epoxy Flakes

It depends on the flake size and whether you broadcast to full coverage. Torginol's technical data sheet gives these full-broadcast rates: 1/4" flakes cover 5 to 7 sq. ft. per lb, 1/8" flakes 4 to 6 sq. ft. per lb and 1/16" flakes 3 to 5 sq. ft. per lb. A partial broadcast covers 25 to 250 sq. ft. per lb. For example, a 400 sq. ft. garage with a full broadcast of 1/4" flakes needs about 57 to 80 lb, or two 40 lb boxes. Actual rates vary with your application technique.

FloorBox carries Torginol flakes in 1/4", 1/8" and 1/16" sizes, and some colours come in more than one size, such as B127 Cabin Fever 1/4" and 1/8", or B411 Domino 1/4" and 1/16". At full broadcast, larger flakes cover more area per pound: 5 to 7 sq. ft. per lb for 1/4" compared with 3 to 5 for 1/16". Choose your colour first, then check which sizes it comes in.

Torginol flakes are water-based and lab-tested as compatible with epoxies, MMA, polyaspartics, polyureas, polyurethanes, and solvent-based and water-based coatings. Torginol recommends testing any resin system that is not on that list, and applying a clear topcoat to fully encapsulate the flakes. Browse epoxy coatings and epoxy pigments to complete your system.
